Exciting music-video styled feature added to Snapchat

Snapchat is a lot more fun making your own mini music videos!

Snap Inc. has stated that 'Snapchatters' say they feel comfortable, happy and connected when using their messaging app, Snapchat. For over a decade it has enhanced relationships with friends, family and the world. To date the company has reported over 750 Million! active users on the service and counting. That is quite impressive given the alternatives out there. Snapchat is different in it's own way when it comes to attracting and keeping its users engaged. The company, like others in the field is constantly developing tools to make it even easier to create and share moments and memories.

With features like "World Lenses", "Stories", My Eyes Only" and "Discover", to name a few already making waves in the latest version of the app, these new bells only add to some of the founding features of the app we've grown accustomed to such as, the capability to make pictures and messages available to their recipients only for a short time before they become inaccessible.

Snapchat already has the company's leading AR (Augmented Reality) lens technology that makes Snapchat so different from many other instant messaging apps on the market. It uses this AR technology together with facial recognition in the app to integrate 3D rendered elements such as objects and animated characters into scenes. A unique feature of the app that we have all come to love alongside the fun friend emojis it is famous for.

At the end of February Snap announced "Sound Recommendations for Lenses" and "Sound Sync for Camera Roll", two additions to existing core features (Lenses and Camera Roll) that are already in the app.

According to Snap Inc.'s Newsroom, these two new features will give users the chance to:

Sounds Recommendations for Lenses  🔊

When using any Lens, this is s a new way for Snapchatters to find relevant 'Sounds' to complement it. Snapchatters can tap the 'Sounds' icon to access a list of relevant Sounds to add to a Snap when applying a Lens to a photo or video. The add-on is currently rolling out globally on iOS and Android and already available in the United States. Pick that perfect song to highlight the moment and evoke the right feeling.

Sounds Sync for Camera Roll 🔊

No skills in video editing, no problem. Audio tracks selected from the Sounds library by Snapchatters, will be automatically in rhythm when creating montage videos using this feature. From your camera roll, simply select between 4-20 photos or videos to get started with this exciting new add-on. Available in the United States and rolling out globally on iOS and coming to Android in March. Sounds like a lot more users are going to be illustrating their moves in their snaps for sure. Are you?

The Inspiration behind these features

Manny Adler, Head of Music Strategy at Snap Inc. says, "By expanding the Sounds experience, Snapchat is making it easier and faster for Snapchatters to discover and share the music they love with friends." He further said, "Snapchat has also created a unique opportunity for artists to reach a valuable and engaged audience, while then also leading fans to listen to the full song on streaming services." Indeed it sounds like a good B2B approach. Adler has been working on Lenses and AR filters used by musicians like Taylor Swift and Post Malone to create mini music videos in the app. He has overseen the technology allowing users to hear a song sent to them and then stream the title as well as Snap's formal licensing partnerships with studios.

If your phone or tablet hasn't already updated the app to the latest version or you don't have Snapchat installed yet, head on over to the Apple Apps Store or the Google Play Store on your device and check it out now. Its sure to bring some cheer if you're a music lover that message your friends often.
