Deals on light laptops you can save big on in 2023

3 Budget laptops for casual tasks Let's clear things up a bit. Laptops are portable clamshell computers that are battery/AC operated. These days they are called, "Chromebook", "Netbook", "Notebook" and well simply laptops. These small form factor PCs usually run a version of a desktop operating system like Microsoft Windows but some can run cloud-based OSes like Google's ChromeOS or the feature-limited Windows S mode. I should also make it very clear that if you require a "Laptop" computer to do heavy work like animation, video/audio editing these listed here will not perform well unless it's very light versions of these tasks using simple software from the different app stores not anything like Adobe Premier Pro! College students use their laptops in the classrooms to take notes, for homework, general research, curricular and extracurricular activities. This has been the norm for at least the past 12

Safe and reliable storage for all your files

Traditional file storage In the 2000s and the very early 2010s, I could remember reaching for a blank DVD/CD or plugging in my portable USB hard drive to back up my music, photos, videos and documents. Yea what a time it was. The humming sound of USB mechanical Hard Disks spinning up and the LEDs flashing in a myriad of patterns were assuring to our ears and eyes. It meant that these devices were ready to accept our precious data in bulk transfer with just a couple clicks and drags of the mouse. It inspired us with that comforting feeling that even if our computer crashed or didn't turn on one day, that we could take these storage devices or discs to a friend or family member's PC or any other computer and still see all of our files on screen, safely nested on these p

Building a modern gaming PC

What makes a gaming PC different from any PC? Actually to help us answer this question more effectively we need to know what a video game is really and how it differs from other tasks we use a computer to perform, like surfing the web, typing, reading, watching video, listening to music and editing etc. The majority of end user programs these days that run on a PC have some type of GUI (Graphical User Interface) through which the user interacts with the computer using audio, visuals, animation and texts etc., called multimedia. However a video game is considered even more multimedia as it involves much more complex user interactions. Photo by Resul Kaya on Unsplash Video games are very complex programs They are very complex because they combine a lot of physics and math calculations and 3D graphical rendered elements. For console gamers who think they are not running a program they are misinformed. Consoles are actually optimized and specialized computers for running games and nowadays

10 tips for speeding up a slow phone or tablet

The modern smartphone These days, many smartphones and tablets are capable of performing demanding tasks like providing high quality photo, audio and video features with rich displays at high resolutions. They are equipped with big, speedy on-board storage, expandable storage capabilities, advanced connectivity features with good multi-tasking and even the ability to play some graphically intensive 3D games. They provide these desirable functionalities to their users with very good efficiency at fast speeds. It comes as no surprise then that to keep up with such challenging performance in a small package, they need to be very multifaceted devices that make use of advanced software to drive innovative modern hardware. Basically they are full mini computers in the palms of our hands. As a result they suffer from many of the same challenges as their larger counterparts and should be maintained in a similar fashion as with our laptop or desktop PCs we use at home and at our workplaces. &qu

The universal therapy that is the magic of MUSIC...♬♪

The sound of music touches our soul Throughout the course of history, sound has been known to be a form of communication between living beings on this earth. It is like its own language with its unique vocabulary. Music can simply be defined as live or recorded sound that is propagated in a pattern which has a pleasant aural perception when we hear it. Most times even in live performances, we hear theses sounds reproduced electronically through loudspeakers but often time we hear them from their original analog sources. Either way these propagated sound waves are received by us via our ears and then processed by our brain before we can hear, listen and even feel them.  In fact research in neuroscience has shown that the brain reacts to music differently from oral and written words. More parts of the brain are actively stimulated when we listen to music than when we read or hear a speech. Music can be conveyed in many forms whether that be vocal, instrumental, song, music video or these
